Tú me refrescas. Te bebo tu líquidas, Te amo tu alma. Tu flujo como el río Nile. El hielo en ti como órganos. El sol te crea. La bebida de los dioses, La creación de belleza. |
Cold In my hand,
In the summer sun. Moist to the touch, my hand is wet with your juices. Sweet and delicious. My mouth wants you. Sweet freshness. Condensation on your cup. My mouth is wet for you. Crisp red color. The smell of freshness, Your fruits bloom in my nose. The crunch of your ice. I pour you on my body. You refresh me. I drink your liquids, I love your soul. You flow like the river nile. The ice in you like organs. The sun creates you. The drink of the gods, The creation of beauty. |

For this project we were required to write an ode to a specific dish from a Spanish speaking country and make the dish. We then presented these two things at exhibition. For my dish I made Watermelon Agua Fresca. It is a refreshing watermelon drink from mexico.
Reflection: In this project I learned many new words, phrases and rules in the Spanish language. I thought the exhibition was very fun and interesting. The most challenging part of this project was writing the poem because I did not know how to write what I wanted to say. The only thing I would have done differently was make my drink sweeter. I am the most proud of my poem because I had most of it correct the first time I wrote it. |
Los Cuentos Infantiles
This project consisted of three parts: the research portion, the writing portion, and the art portion. It started with each student choosing a Spanish speaking country to research. Then we each chose a city or town in that country to also research. I chose to research Chile, and in that country, I chose to research the town of Los Andes. Once the research was complete, we drew storyboards to get an idea of what we wanted each page to be like. Using the storyboard, we then wrote our script for the book. For the book we had to have at 8 pages with about 3 sentences per page. Also, each page had to be illustrated like a children's book. So then came the art portion where we illustrated each page. I chose to write my story about a goat showing off the town he lives in. For the exhibition of this project, we went read our stories in Spanish to a Spanish class at Needham Elementary.
Reflecting on this project, I think it was dull and I definitely didn't enjoy it. For one, I did not connect to the project. I learned a great amount of information about the country and town I researched but would never use that in life. My favorite part of this project was the exhibition. First of all, the little kids were cool. It seemed like the kids really liked my book. The work I did for this project wasn't a complete waste of time knowing that the kids liked it. One revision I would make to my project is to use the right sentences in my final product. I accidentally used my unrefined sentences on my book which dropped my grade. I really disliked this project but think it could be revised or could change in to something better.
