Energy and Place Project:
Essential Questions:
a. How does energy production and consumption impact place?
b. How does your sense of place, environmental ethic and understanding of our energy needs influence your perception and decisions relating to energy production and consumption?

Reflection
From my specific scientific investigation I learned a lot regarding energy consumption and conservation. My experiment tested what size and material container would use heat energy most efficiently. I learned that the material of the container was the largest factor in creating an heat energy efficient container. A heat energy efficient container means that the container when filled with water and put on top of an open wax flame it will use the least amount of wax burned to heat the water to a certain temperature. A large glass jar was the most efficient container in our experiment which taught me that glass was the most efficient material for a container to be out of the containers we used. I also learned about how fossil fuels could be tested to see which is the most efficient and that energy production and consumption can be very complex process.
Through my infographic I am trying to show how the renewable energy job market is large and growing. My infographic presents the salaries of the most common jobs in each field and how many jobs are available. I was inspired to make my infographic about this topic because as an upperclassman in high school I am soon going into college and then the job market and energy production is an everlasting market that could potentially be what I become interested in. The energy industry has jobs that cover many degrees I could get in college and the industry often needs new insight and employees. This infographic was created to give people that view it an idea of what jobs in the energy market they may want to go into. To improve my infographic I could have added a line graph showing the growth of jobs in the renewable resource energy and I could have given more statistics comparing current jobs to earlier jobs. My infographic would have benefited from these things because it would have given my audience some information that would help when looking at the rest of the infographic.

Materials Project
My letter to Jason Levinthal at J skis.
Elevator Pitch
My product will improve the lifespan of skis and their edges. I am looking for support in my venture. My product is a metal alloy that will eventually be used as ski edges in the skis from your favorite brands. I have found an alloy that not only improves the performance of the ski but also its durability. My alloy is a martensitic stainless chromium steel. Its martensitic crystalline structure gives it a flexible yet durable structure that would need less sharpening and that would make sharpening a lot easier. Now why should you invest in my product? One word, Sustainability. Skis when broken or when their edges are cracked or broken are not fixable so they end up in our landfills and dumpsters. A cracked edge is fatal to the ski but what if your edges wouldn't crack? The world would be a better place. Invest in my Wonder Edge Today!
Project Reflection
The chemistry of materials has been a crucial part of society and we would not be where we are without it. Material chemistry is the study of the different materials of our world. Without it our technology may may still be living in caves and hunting to survive, but our society is much more advanced because material chemists researched and created methods or products that have revolutionized and will continue to revolutionize our world as we know it. For example, up to this day we have been mostly dependant on steel and steel alloys to build structures and to be used under massive amounts of tension or weight. Recently material chemists have discovered a material with the name Graphene. This material essentially makes steel look like a wimp. It improves upon steel in almost every way just like the materials before it discovered my chemists to better our lives.
The structure of matter can be determined can be determined with the atomic, molecular, microscopic and macroscopic levels. Matter is sorted by many qualities, size which can be determined on the atomic level. The structure of its molecules which can be determined on a molecular level. The visibility of the matter which can be determined on the microscopic level. Last but not least matter can be determined on the macroscopic level if it is visible by the naked eye.
